Book 11 is The Millennial Game Plan: Career and Money Secrets To Succeed in Today’s World by Laura Shin. This is my non-fiction book in the Pop Sugar Reading Challenge
I liked the book, it is a short read with just 98 pages. It covers a range of topics on the financial and job markets and how millennials can tackle these challenges and find opportunities in them. Challenges such as money management, debt, student loans, part-time and contract jobs and expanding on entrepreneurial ideas.
The book features examples of millennials who have dealt with the challenges. There are examples of resources and tools to help to overcome the obstacles. However these were all American or at least North American (Canada might be thrown in) and as such weren’t directly applicable to me in Jamaica. Nevertheless, there are general principles such as the final section on the three money principles:
1. Spend less than you earn
2. Invest as early as you can
These lessons I will hold unto for all my life. Thank you Laura Shin.
